Suzuki's 150 G-Force!
Exclusive first impression of Suzuki’s Indian new flagship

The march of the 150cc bikes in India continues gathering critical mass and it has picked up yet one more soldier in the form of the spanking new GS150R from Suzuki.

Not since a long time ago I had mentioned the fact that the executive commuter class in the Indian two-wheeler world would be shifting goalposts from the present 100cc standard to the 125 – 150cc class. And in recent times the indications are that the bike makers are quickly hitting this immediate target which is a great sign for two reasons. The first is that it means the market is beginning to upgrade to a better all rounded motorcycle which has both performance and fuel efficiency for the daily commute while secondly these new from the ground up bikes help meet the ever evolving aspirations of the Indian commuter for whom motorcycles continue to remain the best tool for personal mobility.

Suzuki has taken a deliberate conservative approach to its new motorcycle. It is a perfect conformist in the subtle approach game exemplified by Honda rather than the in-your-face approach as highlighted by the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar, the Yamaha FZ16 and the TVS Apache RTR. It yet again hints of the sub-segmentation in the 150cc class with sporty style and rorty performance ranged against classy turnout and refined manners with an undaunting persona. It isn’t difficult to fathom which trait the GS150R packs in abundance and that is again the sort of approach taken by Honda with its Unicorn.
